With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

Ben White of New Vibrations Audio and Video works on a ledge of the Old Main bell tower, to remove the speakers from the old chime system. The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, WPSU will bring live election coverage to central Pennsylvania. WPSU-FM and the station's Vote '08 Web page, found at http://wpsu.org/vote08, will post the results as they come in from the polls. The Web site will be updated throughout the night with live election results. WPSU-FM and the Web page will offer results from the presidential primary, the 5th Congressional District primary, discussion on the races and more.

WPSU-FM will offer listeners in-depth coverage throughout the evening on local races and national race news from National Public Radio. WPSU-FM will be interviewing Pennsylvania superdelegates Ruth Rudy (Clinton) and Sen. Bob Casey (Obama). Joining the station to offer analysis will be Penn State political science professor Michael Berkman and journalist Russ Eshleman, who also teaches at Penn State.

Highlights of the Web site will include real-time election results map covering presidential and 5th District congressional results, a live blog analysis by a team of experts, and open election chat with pundits Berkman and Eshleman.

"As a public broadcasting outlet that serves a large portion of central Pennsylvania, and with highly contested races, we believe that it is important for us to provide this political coverage to our audience," said radio station manager Greg Petersen. "We also hope to use our Web site in new and innovative ways as we continue to provide election coverage through the fall."

WPSU-FM can be heard at 91.5 in the State College Area, 90.1 in Northern Pennsylvania, 92.1 in DuBois, 102.5 in Huntingdon, 95.1 in Treasure Lake, 100.9 in Bradford, 104.7 in Clearfield, and at 106.7 in Altoona. The station can also be heard via the Internet at http://www.wpsu.org online.
