Sen. Barack Obama has been forced to cancel a town hall event at Penn State Beaver previously scheduled for Thursday (March 13), campus officials learned this evening (March 12). Obama had been scheduled to talk with community members in a question-and-answer session at the Penn State Beaver gymnasium, but members of his campaign team informed Penn State Beaver that the Illinois senator and presidential candidate had to return to Washington, D.C. on business.
Obama is in a strongly contested battle for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination with Sen. Hillary Clinton, and both candidates have turned their attention to Pennsylvania and its April 22 primary election. Both candidates and their supporters have already begun touring the Commonwealth, and last week former President Bill Clinton visited Penn State Brandywine is support of his wife.
