University Park, Pa. -- Every year, Penn State Hillel hosts a Seder on the University Park campus celebrating Passover. This year, the start of Passover falls during the annual Blue-White Weekend. To help Jewish parents and alumni balance their passion for Penn State football with their commitment to celebrating the holiday, Hillel plans to open its doors to anyone in town for the weekend's festivities.
The Hillel Passover Seder will be held after the Blue-White game, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the campus. Tickets are $10 for students, $25 for parents and alumni. For tickets and more information, contact Lori Thompson at lat11@psu.edu or (814) 863-3816.
Passover commemorates the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, and is one of the most widely celebrated Jewish holidays. Today, the holiday is often used as a primer for discussions about persecution and injustice.
