New graduates of Penn State's Eberly College of Science listened to the commencement address provided by United States Secretary of Energy Steven Chu during spring 2012 graduation ceremonies held May 5 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.

A Moroccan farmer taught Penn State students about the properties of vetiver grass, including its ability to clean wastewater. The grass could be used as part of a solution to water-quality problems being experienced in Assoul, Morocco, where students spent time recently.

Hillel to hold Blue-White Passover Seder

University Park, Pa. -- Every year, Penn State Hillel hosts a Seder on the University Park campus celebrating Passover. This year, the start of Passover falls during the annual Blue-White Weekend. To help Jewish parents and alumni balance their passion for Penn State football with their commitment to celebrating the holiday, Hillel plans to open its doors to anyone in town for the weekend's festivities.

The Hillel Passover Seder will be held after the Blue-White game, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on the campus. Passover commemorates the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, and is one of the most widely celebrated Jewish holidays. Today, the holiday is often used as a primer for discussions about persecution and injustice.
