With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

Ben White of New Vibrations Audio and Video works on a ledge of the Old Main bell tower, to remove the speakers from the old chime system. The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

University Park, Pa. -- The Penn State 2007 Homecoming logo and theme were unveiled April 21 during the Blue and White game. This year's theme is "Reflecting the Spirit," and the logo is a blue image of head football coach Joe Paterno’s glasses. The year, '07, is reflected in one lens.

The logo was designed by Sarah Woolley, a Penn State junior majoring in graphic design. Her idea was chosen by the 2007 Overall Committee as the one that best represents the goals and traditions of the annual Homecoming celebration.

"We really love this design," said Jennifer Rosenberg, the Homecoming 2007 Overall Chairperson. "Joe Paterno is a Penn State icon. His image invokes a strong sense of pride in everyone, especially the alumni."

To get ideas for the design, Woolley said she chose to walk home from the art studio rather than ride the bus.

"While looking at buildings, statues, images, and existing logos I feel there is one universal icon that comes to everyone's mind, whether you're a student, alumnus, faculty member or just a follower of Penn State -- Joe Paterno," said Woolley.
