A team of Penn State engineering students and faculty advisers has been selected to compete in the upcoming Nanosat-5 competition. Nanosat-5 is a part of the University Nanosatellite Program (UNP) sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. UNP is a national competition that is geared toward educating students about satellite design and fabrication while increasing the research and development of small satellites and satellite technologies. The competition is expected to last over two years. This is the second UNP competition Penn State has been selected to compete in. The University also was selected to compete in Nanosat-3, which began in Jan. 2003.
