This winter, Penn State students, faculty and staff on the University Park campus can find out when bad weather affects class schedules just by checking their cell phones. Penn State Newswire introduces the new PSUTXT service, a text-messaging service that sends news and information directly to subscribers' cell phones. While individuals' phone plans may charge for receipt of text messages, subscription to the PSUTXT service is free. Subscribers can choose the information they want to receive: emergency notices including weather alerts, campus closings, etc.; concert information including Bryce Jordan Center concert announcements and other entertainment news; or sports alerts, including information about upcoming Penn State games. To sign up, visit http://live.psu.edu/psutxt online and follow the instructions under the PSUTXT heading. For more information, e-mail Newswire@psu.edu and include PSUTXT in the subject line.
