Costas Maranas, the Donald B. Broughton professor of chemical engineering, has received the Outstanding Young Researcher Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Computing and Systems Technology Division. The honor recognizes an individual under 40 years of age for outstanding contributions to the field of chemical engineering computing and systems technology. The award includes a plaque and $3,000 prize.
Maranas holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and a master of science and a doctoral degree from Princeton University. He previously was honored by the institute with its 2002 Allan P. Colburn Award for Excellence in Publications by a Young Member of the Institute. Maranas will receive his award in November during institute's annual meeting in San Francisco.
