Still Life

With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

Ben White of New Vibrations Audio and Video works on a ledge of the Old Main bell tower, to remove the speakers from the old chime system. The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

The funeral procession for Joe Paterno made its way past Beaver Stadium and down Porter Road as crowds applauded on Jan. 25. Thousands lined the procession route through the University Park campus and downtown State College to bid a last farewell to Joe Paterno.

ITS Accounts Services introduces repository for Web-based forms

Wednesday, May 31, 2006

This summer, applying for ITS accounts-based services will get a little easier. In an effort to improve, streamline and enhance the way in which accounts-based services are made available to the University community, ITS now offers Online Application Forms Central -- a consolidated, online repository of forms designed to help the Penn State community conduct business more efficiently. Users may visit http://aset.its.psu.edu/accounts/accountsforms/ to access a series of forms for what will eventually become a full suite of dynamic, online application forms for all accounts-related services. The initial package of Web-based forms includes: a Course Group form, which instructors may use to create and populate groups of authorized users for course Web space; and two Short Term Access Account (STAA) forms -- one for managing and one for distributing -- accounts from STAA pools.

The conversion to online forms, however, will not totally eliminate previous versions. Both .pdf and printed versions of all forms will continue to be available online and on a per-request basis, although those who wish to apply for such services are encouraged to use the online versions.

Efforts on the paper-to-Web forms conversion initiative will continue throughout the summer and fall. Application forms will be posted to the site as they become available, so students, faculty and staff are encouraged to check the site frequently for new additions.

Questions, requests for assistance, and/or problem reports may be directed to the ITS Accounts Services Office staff by sending e-mail to accounts@psu.edu or by calling (814) 865-4772.
