Still Life

With four guide ropes attached to it, the east-side clock face is raised into position. While it didn't seem that windy on the ground on Saturday, Jan. 28, winds higher up were strong, requiring extra guidance to bring the clock face safely to the Old Main bell tower.

Ben White of New Vibrations Audio and Video works on a ledge of the Old Main bell tower, to remove the speakers from the old chime system. The company installed a new carillon system today (Jan. 27) that will play a digital recording made of the original Old Main bell that now sits adjacent to Old Main and other bells of comparable sizes.

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State will hold Penn State Days, a statewide recognition of the role Penn State plays in education, Oct. 19-23 at the University's undergraduate campuses across the state. Penn State Days will celebrate the educational opportunities available to potential students, whether current high school students, recent high school graduates or returning adults. The University will provide attendees with information about degree programs, admission strategies, financial aid opportunities and housing options.

Beyond making many educational opportunities available to undergraduate and adult students, each campus also plays a vital role by being active, contributing community partners. As part of Penn State Day, each of the undergraduate campuses will celebrate the role they play in their communities as well. Penn State celebrates these partnerships and, as part of Penn State Day, wants to recognize their importance.

Students, family members, friends, counselors and teachers are encouraged to register for the admissions event nearest them by using the online reservation system at http://www.psu.edu/admissions/openhouse/home/index.htm
