Forty-eight hours of hard work paid off for all those involved with the Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) when the record-breaking total of $4,122,483.65 for pediatric cancer was announced. THON, believed to be the largest student-run philanthropy in the nation, took place Feb. 18 to 20, and with 704 dancers raising money for the Four Diamonds Fund, the event made national news for its staggering numbers and efforts. For the 10th year in a row, Alpha Tau Omega fraternity (ATO) and Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) sorority took first place for the most money raised by a Greek organization, with $269,428.52. “THON is, and always will be, for the kids,” said Lauren Odorizzi, president of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. “... We do it all in hopes that one day the terrible killer of pediatric cancer will be eradicated. ATO and ZTA depend on each other for inspiration and motivation to raise the bar and work harder than the previous year.”
