These Madagascar Giant Hissing Cockroaches are on display at the Frost Entomological Museum located in Head House III on the University Park campus. Bugs like these will leave thousands of visitors spellbound at Penn State's Great Insect Fair this year. The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 29 in the Snider Agricultural Arena. For information about the upcoming fair, check http://live.psu.edu/story/25957

This African Giant Black Millipede is curled up in his home at the Frost Entomological Museum. He can reach 12 inches in length and have as many as 150 pairs of feet. He would probably do well at this weekend's Insect Fair olympics. The fair also includes an insect petting zoo.

It's a good old-fashioned hornet's nest, just like the ones found in trees all over Pennsylvania. Local lore holds that the winter's snowfall will be in direct proportion to how high the nest is in the tree.
